ATTENTION: All Members-UPDATES! News and Changes

I'd like to say that I am, for the most part, more than happy with the line-up of members and interested members in our tribe. However, we do have to do some work on our war line up. Simply put, I have a list of names of members/interesteds that I think needs optimizing and re-assessed. Zen will be operating under a progressive, and professional level of sportsmanship. Our members need to be informed and up to date, so the race is on...

We propose (collectively, and correct me if I'm wrong here) that all members (new and old alike) should try their best efforts to get a mic and get to know us on our teamspeak. We understand that some of you cannot at this time talk to us. That's okay, you're not considered a lesser player, but you will be asked to spec or sit out when other members who are on teamspeak and ready to play and strategize together are present. It is a key element to victory.

This doesn't mean you can't be a member with us, but we really would like to know all of our members as friends and family. (As well as someone we just love to frag!)
We are not recruiting any new members without mic, regardless of skill, from now on, period. Can we all agree to this?
The following list is in order according to seniority and how well we know ya.

This mic debate runs on.... In this democratic Zen society I see that teamspeak is slowly becoming a necessity if one is to progress and play an active role.

I can see and appreciate the benefit of this but it's simply not something I will be playing a part in. I play sauer as a game, and a game that plays no real importance in my life. Doning headsets and wearing camo is just taking it too seriously.

I understand that many do indeed take this game seriously and getting rid of the dead wood will eventually make you stronger - I am therefore saying my goodbye's and departing.

It's been a short time but I have gotten to know some of you well and I hope that we can frag as per usual even though I am excommunicated

Noted, but... I tend to think of Zen as my "life project" for helping me meet and manage good friendships (at least online), and hopefully as a cathartic experience that will transcend and translate to real life. So, in that aspect of things, it plays a real part (albeit small, but the small pleasures in life are often the most pleasant surprises) to some of us. I don't take it all that seriously, you're right it is a game and it's always your decision how much you want to contribute to it.

You can keep the camo, we're not going militant lol.

Now considering that virtually all members will sign up for teamspeak that will only lead to frustration to those that are not. I trust you can see my point? Better now than later.

Touche'. You wanted to join a clan, did you really not want to know the players you were playing with? Did you really want to join a mediocre, silent treatment clan? True, we play for fun. That is the ultimate goal here. But it would be swell if we had top tools to make us better, and it has.

Any frustration a player experiences comes from within. Because we openly state that we are on voice.

I wanted to join a clan to partake in CW's and communicate within the limitations of the game. As I have clearly stated, going beyond this is what I would deem taking it too seriously. Of course there is nothing wrong with that but it is a personal choice.

Frustration comes from within as a consequence of external influences. I am here to play Sauerbraten not watch it. This will restrict my enjoyment of the game and thus is counter-productive to your 'fun' ethos.

So as my last post (as I can see this conversation going downhill) I wish you all the best. It is my hope that we can still manage friendly banter in game, as this is not a personal attack on any member of the team.

I wouldn't consider using a mic too serious. Every clan's goal is to be the best, and voice communication drastically improves team coordination. And it's a much more pleasent way to communicate with others too. I really don't see how it's 'going too far'.
If you want to be in a half decent clan, you'll be better off with a mic... unless you wanna join M4.

Speaking of which, _troshka, I hate to even bring this up, but is it official? I hate to take anyone off of that list, and you did help make this clan so.... you said last night you're clanless, but is that your final decision? You don't have to answer it here if you don't feel like it. We'll talk later, peace.

I am leaving, however, I would like to keep close ties with the clan.
Zen Den / Sanctuary will remain my home, and I'll keep helping Zen members. However, I won't have the tag on, won't be able to help you guys in CWs, nor do I have a say in the clan anymore.
I don't wanna leave like an asshole though. I'd like to remain a close clan friend that everyone can count on.

Im more concerned about lexar however because he was actually good... in any case those r some funny pictures, but that is not "How we roll." You really are a self-righteous plank aren't you. What has needing me got to do with anything? It was a light hearted post that has clearly been lost on you.

Now consider why MANY people seem to dislike Zen and why others join only to leave within days.... then look at your attitude Killswitch.

Oh and I don't drink tea and smoke fags..... Didn't quite pack a punch that ridiculous comment did it. I could go into my professional achievements and current Judo achievements but I really have no desire to justify anything to a retrobate like yourself.

anyways I dont care if people leave within days obviously, cause we got 10 players that appear to be hardcore about this clan. Until the people in charge tell me to lighten up, I have no problem showing attitude to a guy who leaves becuz hes afraid of headphones, or a guy who leaves to join a hacking clan, or a guy who gets kicked out cause hes hacking, or another guy who leaves becuz he wants a small friendly clan instead of a big friendly clan. I show attitude to those I feel deserve it.

In another light, good decision on leaving m4, and Im counting... thats two clans in a week and a half. Have fun doing judo while I do Krav Maga, ice hockey, volleyball, my job, baseball, and of course another fav of mine, sauerbraten.

It's the same problem with ambiguity you find in all corners of the internet. In many venues, especially those with a competitive aspect, it is common practice for ambiguity (esp. brief written communications as those in a game) to translate as hostility, sarcasm, more or less as a personal affront.
Once the gap of misunderstanding is crossed, either party will continue to attempt provocation of the other. This is how clans get into shit with other clans, how personal conflicts arise, how hack-allegations perpetuate themselves...

It's actually kind of tiring. Especially when it happens between two intelligent people who disagree over nothing more than the use of a voice-chat program.

In related news, my headset just snapped in half today. What a piece of shit.

Electrical tape, for the win. At least rates argues his point, which is generally sharper than his aim.
